Local Pest Control offers 24-hour services and operates in the Metro Vancouver, Lower Mainland, and Victoria areas. They have been in business since 2010 and focus on customer service and efficiency.

Or at least, that’s what we’ve seen from our survey of their customers. It was borne out by our call to them, where we found them easy to talk to.

We particularly appreciated that they didn’t seem to rush us during the call (even though we admit to dithering a bit at some moments). However, if you call them, just be aware that they only entertain calls from Monday to Friday… but they can book you in advance.

One important thing to point out here is that they don’t have a same-day service option, which is a bit disappointing. As much as possible, we want bed bugs to be removed quickly.

They use both traditional (chemical) and heat treatments for bed bugs. We don’t mind the traditional treatment from this company, as they are very thorough.

Their traditional treatment includes furniture and bedding removal along with house clean-outs. This makes the experience easier for customers as they won’t need to bother with that themselves.

And if you’re not sure yet if you have bed bugs, they have a service for that too. They offer bed bug detection services using dogs that can track the scent of bed bugs and their eggs (Vana, their detection dog, is adorable, by the way).

They also rent out bed bug detectors for 5 days cheaply if you prefer to do the inspection yourself. This can help you make sure that you can detect a bed bug infestation in the house.

For their bed bug extermination service, they use heat treatment. While they don’t offer other treatments for bed bugs, it’s not a big deal for us, as it is our preferred option.

What they do instead is heat the place, then check every single piece of furniture to see where the bed bugs are. Pretty thorough, right?
