Ultimate Guide To Chinese Garden Vancouver: What You Need to Know
Located in Vancouver’s Chinatown, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is a stunning representation of a 15th-century scholar’s garden from Suzhou, China.
Not just a garden, this site is also a registered museum. It was created with the collaboration of the governments of Canada and the People’s Republic of China, showcasing architecture and landscaping reflective of the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644). It stands as one of the first of its kind outside China and Asia.
The garden is a non-profit tourist attraction and a hub for cultural programs centered on China. Every dollar earned supports its mission.
Over the years, the garden has received numerous awards, highlighting its local and global significance. It was named one of Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s “Places That Matter” and was recognized as the World’s Top City Garden by National Geographic in 2011. In 2012, it was voted Canadian Garden of the Year by the Canadian Garden Tourism Council and received the City of Vancouver’s Award of Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion in 2022.
